Unboxing the Asus Eee PC 1001P – Video

The Asus Eee PC 1001P is a bit like the kid brother to the recently launched Eee PC 1005PE netbook. While the Eee PC 1005PE comes with 802.11b/g/n WiFi and ships standard with a 6 cell battery (although there are two versions of the battery), the 1001P has 802.11b/g WiFi and comes with either a 3 or 6 cell battery. But to be honest, on paper the differences between the Eee PC 1005PE and 1001P are pretty small

Motorola Backflip Doesn’t Allow Non-Market Apps

Today we learned that the Motorola Backflip (AT&T’s first Android OS based phone) has a restriction built in preventing you from installing 3rd party apps on to it. Instead, users are forced now to install apps through the Android Market. For some this might not be a problem, but for others, the reason for getting an Android based phone is to give you the flexibility to do what you want with the device in terms of installing apps sometimes not through the Android Market

Google Android Phone if Apple had it’s way

You all probably know that Apple are chasing after HTC at the moment over an issue of 20 infringed patents that Apple I guess want payment for, or want HTC to stop building. It seems like HTC are not Apple’s AAPL real target though and that they are actually after Google GOOG in a weird round-a-bout way. Anyway, Wired put an interesting article together that shows what an Android OS based phone would look like if Apple gets it’s own way.
